New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed a gathering at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Akshardham temple in Gujarat's Gandhinagar.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister offered prayers and attended cultural programmes at the temple's silver jubilee celebrations following his arrival in Ahmedabad.
Children decked up in tricolour costumes performed a welcome dance in the Akshardham complex.
"Akshardham Temples are beautiful, ahead of their times. I assure you - you may not enter the Temple as a Bhakt but you will leave as one," said PM Modi.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Mayur Dwar of Akshardham temple.
"Pramukh Swami was never guided by ‘expanding influence’ for the sake of it. He was more interested in improving lives of people," said Modi.
He said, "What was special about Pramukh Swami was that he understood the importance of changing with times and yet retaining a human touch."
"Akshardham temples stand out for excellent management and usage of technology. For this, we will always be grateful to Pramukh Swami," Modi added.
PM Modi along with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel also performed aarti at the temple.
