5 JeM terrorists killed by Indian armed forces in Uri
The terrorists were reportedly trying to infiltrate the border.
SRINAGAR: Five Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists were killed by Indian armed forces in Dulanja village, Uri in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday morning.
The terrorists were gunned down in a joint operation by J&K Police, Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), said Shesh Paul Vaid, state police Director General of Police.
The terrorists were reportedly trying to infiltrate the border.
Vaid tweeted:
More militants are reportedly holed up in the area.
"I congratulate our security forces: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Uri anti infiltration bid in which 5 terrorists were killed," said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
On December 31, 2017, five Central Reserve Police Force jawans were killed after heavily armed terrorists on Sunday launched a pre-dawn attack on a CRPF camp in Pulwama district of south Kashmir. The terrorists were later neutralised.
Top JeM commander Noor Mohammad Tantray - the brain behind Jaish-e-Mohammad's revival in Kashmir- was killed in a gunfight with the security forces in south Kashmir's Pulwama district in December 2017. A month ago, Indian security forces also gunned down JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar's nephew - Talha Rasheed.
