Monsoon Session: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury apologises, says his motive was not to insult the Speaker​

Deadlock continued in the Parliament on the fifth day of the Monsoon Session with Opposition and Lok Sabha being adjourned several times during the day while Parliament amid slogan shouting and protests.

In such matters, there should not be any politics but everyone should speak in one voice. This is my appeal to the opposition,” he said while speaking to reporters outside Parliament.

  • Lok Sabha was once again adjourned till 2 pm after Opposition continued with the protests.

  • Former union cabinet minister and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Anand Sharma, condemned the loss of lives in the Gurdaspur's terror attack incident and said that it has raised question on the intention of Pakistan. He added that the incidences of raising Pakistani flags on Indian soil will not be tolerated and that no strict action regarding the incident has been taken, the ANI reported.

  • After the Lok Sabha session resumed at noon, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan asked members raising posters to put them down as it is against the rules while Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that Home Ministry will make a statement after the encounter is over.
