UP Assembly polls, fifth phase: As it happened

Balloting will be held during the day in Bahraich, Basti, Balrampur, Gonda, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shrawasti, Siddharthnagar, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar and Amethi districts.

Earlier today, former Samajwadi Party MP Bhalchand Yadav was put under house arrest to ensure peaceful voting in Sant Kabir Nagar constituency.


Meanwhile, Delhi High Court today set aside trial court order granting custody parole to MLA Mukhtar Ansari for canvassing in Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. Justice Mukta Gupta allowed the Election Commission’s plea seeking cancellation of Ansari’s parole.
