Khandwa: A ruling BJP MLA has been booked for allegedly threatening and abusing a forest officer during a review meeting over developmental works.

ANI reported on Thursday that a non-cognizable report has ben filed against MLA Devendra Verma by the Khandwa Police.


Verma, who was chairing the meeting of officials in Khandwa, was upset with the work done by the the forest officer, SK Singh, and started hurling abuses at him and even threatened his life.


"I was briefing BJP MLA Devendra Verma on work being done when he started to verbally abuse me and threatened me. I have filed an FIR against him," SK Singh told reporters.


Speaking about the incident, Khandwa Police Station TI, Dileep Puri said that an NCR was lodged against Verma for defamation and threat of injury to public servant.


"Forest officer SK Singh filed an FIR over the incident. A non-cognizable report has been filed," he added.
