Bhopal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday filed a chargesheet against at least 592 persons in connection with the VYAPAM scam that was unearthed in Madhya Pradesh last year.
According to ANI, four former VYAPAM officials are among those named by the CBI in its chargesheet in connection with the alleged fraud in PMT exams in 2012.
The four former VYAPAM officials named in CBI chargesheet are Pankaj Trivedi (the then director VYAPAM), Nitin Mohindra (the then Senior System Analyst), Ajay Kumar Sen (the then deputy system analyst) and CK Mishra (the then programmer).
The central bureau of investigation has also named chairpersons of several private colleges in connection with the case.
Those named in the CBI chargesheet are Ajay Goenka, Chirayu Medical College, SN Vijaywargiya, Peoples Medical College, Suresh Singh Bhadauria, Medical College Bhopal and JN Chowkse, LN Medical College.
The CBI had recently given a clean chit to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the VYAPAM scam.
The agency had said that there is no mention of 'the CM' in hard disc seized by its officials earlier in connection with its probe into the case.
The CBI also dismissed an allegation made by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh against the alleged involvement of Chouhan in the scam.
The CBI had then told the court that there was no tampering of the hard drives recovered in the case.
The scam is related to manipulation in the selection process for government colleges and jobs conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) or VYAPAM.
It involved the impersonation of candidates, rampant copying, blank answer sheets and fake marks.
The apex court had on July 9 ordered transfer of the probe into all Vyapam scam cases and the deaths allegedly linked to it to the CBI.
