Mangaluru cops arrest accused on the run in Mumbai
The Sixth Additional District and Sessions Court here, which was hearing the murder case, re-issued the NBW a few weeks ago.
Mangaluru: An accused in a 2003 double murder case, who had jumped bail, was arrested by the Mangaluru police in Mumbai.
The man, Vinesh Shetti (46), a native of Shirva in Udupi, was among those arrested by Konaje police here in connection with the murder of one Venugopal Nayak and his driver Santosh near Mudipu in Dakshina Kannada district.
After his release on bail in 2005, Shetti failed to appear before the trial court which issued a Non-Bailable Warrant.
The Sixth Additional District and Sessions Court here, which was hearing the murder case, re-issued the NBW a few weeks ago.
On a tip-off, a team of Konaje police led by inspector Ashok traced Shetti to a place in Mumbai and arrested him yesterday.
