Guwahati: The Chief Electoral Officer of Assam on Saturday met representatives of political parties and discussed issues related to conducting the Assembly election next month in a free and fair manner.

The representatives appraised CEO Vijayendra of several issues that might crop up during the elections and steps that needed to be taken, an official release said.


The CEO said that the election department is taking all possible steps and ensured the parties that polls will be conducted in a free and fair manner.


Vijayendra also briefed them about the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners' scheduled visit to the state next week.


The two-phase Assembly election in the state will be held on April 4 and 11.
