He was arrested on July 29 from Bihar's Buxar town after remaining absconding for about 10 days.

The row erupted after he claimed at a press conference that the BSP chief was giving party tickets based on the amount of money paid to her and that even a prostitute was better than her.

On the following day, the BJP sacked the Uttar Pradesh unit vice-president from all party posts.

Singh's statement had led to furore and eventually a case was registered against him at the Hazratganj police station.

According to the complainant Singh's statement had violated the honour of a Dalit woman and raised tension between the communities in the state.
