Patna: As the Janata Dal (United) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal staged an sspectacular victory on Sunday, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's sons Tejaswi and Tej Pratap Yadav both have registered their win in their debut election.

Tejaswi, 26, and his older brother Tej Pratap, 27, contested from the Raghopur and Mahua assembly constituencies respectively.


Lalu Yadav's RJD is part of the Mahagathbandhan which also has Nitish Kumar's JD (U).


Tejaswi, who is the younger of the two sons, is widely seen as Lalu Yadav's political heir. "It is a verdict for development in the state. We are very grateful to the people of Bihar for electing us," he told reporters.


Of the nine children of Lalu Prasad, three have now entered politics. Lalu's daughter Misa Bharti had contested the national election last year but lost.


The RJD chief has been barred from contesting elections following his conviction in a corruption case.
