Darbhanga: Six persons were detained in connection with the murder of two engineers of a road construction company in Darbhanga district, even as a SHO was on Sunday suspended and the Special Task Force (STF) launched a probe into the incident.

Darbhanga's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) A K Satyarthi said six persons were detained from a housing colony under Laheriasarai police station area in Darbhanga town for interrogation.


He said Baheri police station's Station House Officer (SHO) Rama Shankar Singh, under whose jurisdiction the shocking incident took place yesterday, has been suspended on charge of dereliction of duty.


Meanwhile, IG, Special Task Force (STF) Sushil M Khopde and its SP Shivdeep Lande inspected the site where the two engineers Brajesh Kumar and Mukesh Kumar were fatally shot at by unidentified gunmen yesterday.


Khopde said that the district police have seized 12 used cartridge shells of AK-47 rifle, a cartridge of country-made pistol and leaflets of 'Bihar People's Liberation', a gang involvement in extortion and other criminal activities.


The leaflets warned about carrying out more such activities, he said. The IG said the STF teams were carrying out raids in Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi and Darbhanga districts to nab the culprits.


The two engineers of a road construction firm M/S BSCCNC were fatally shot at by motorcycle-borne assailants in broad daylight near Shivram Chowk on Darbhanga-Kusheshwarsthan State Highway yesterday.


The injured engineers were rushed to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) but the attending doctors declared them as brought dead.
