New Delhi: A city court on Monday dismissed the bail plea of AAP MLA Sharad Chauhan and sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.

The AAP MLA was arrested in connection with the suicide of a woman party worker recently.


He was arrested by the crime branch of Delhi Police on Sunday.


Chauhan is an MLA from the Narela constituency of Delhi.


Several other people were also arrested in connection with the case.


AAP worker Soni was allegedly committed suicide in Narela on July 19.


Her family members have alleged that party colleague Ramesh Bhardwaj was harassing her at the behest of Chouhan.


They also said that she had gone into depression after Bhardwaj, who had allegedly molested her, was released on bail.


The police have also arrested Bhardwaj.


Soni had alleged that Bhardwaj was protected by the local MLA.


She had also filed a complaint against Bhardwaj for allegedly touching her inappropriately and a case of molestation was registered in June.


Soni, mother of two daughters, left behind a self-shot WhatsApp video in which she claimed, "I was denied justice".


According to police, the woman in her video clip accused Bhardwaj, Amit Kumar and Rajni Kanth of torturing her to withdraw a sexual harassment complaint she filed against Bhardwaj on June 2.


Wadhwa was arrested on June 3 but granted bail the very next day.


On July 20, the Delhi Police registered a case of abetment to suicide and handed over the entire matter to a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
