Delhi Police constable jumps before metro train, dies
A suicide note has been recovered from him, said DCP (Metro) Jitendra Mani.
New Delhi: A Delhi Police constable allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train at Patel Chowk Metro Station on Thursday.
Sanjay Prasad, who was posted at Communications Unit of the Delhi Police, jumped before a Samaypur Badli-bound metro train at around 2:20 PM. He was undergoing treatment for depression. A suicide note has been recovered from him, said DCP (Metro) Jitendra Mani.
Police were informed around 2:30 PM. A team rushed to the spot, sent the body for autopsy and made preliminary enquiries.
The illness of his son, who recently had a major surgery at RML hospital, was one of the reasons for his depression. In the suicide he wrote he was "tired", police said.
Train services on the Yellow Line were "briefly" disrupted following the incident.
"We follow the regular drill as warranted in such situations and within 15 minutes the operations were back to normal," a senior officer of DMRC said.
