Delhi traffic jammed again: Hundreds stuck on NH8, DND, Mayur Vihar-Noida road
Traffic has also stalled on the Ring Road near Ashram, at the entry to the DND Flyway to Noida.
New Delhi: Taxi drivers hit by the SC order against Diesel cabs in the national capital blocked the arterial NH8 for the second consecutive day on Tuesday.
Shouting slogans against the Delhi government and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the cab drivers protested on the road near Mahipalpur, close to the IGI Airport.
The blockade led to a huge jam on the busy road. Hundreds of motorists headed towards Gurgaon were stuck during the morning rush hour.
Traffic has also stalled on the Ring Road near Ashram, at the entry to the DND Flyway to Noida. Also, traffic is at near standstill on the other major entry into Noida from Mayur Vihar Phase-1.
Yesterday too, the protesting drivers took to the roads at many places in the capital, causing hardships for school-going children and office-goers.
The top court had, last week, refused to give more time to taxi operators to switch to the cleaner compressed natural gas (CNG) and banned the diesel and petrol-based taxis in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) from May 1.
The deadline for the change was extended twice earlier.
