JNU PhD student arrested for raping girl on pretext of marriage
A Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Ph.D. scholar was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly raping a 26-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her.
New Delhi: A Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Ph.D. scholar was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly raping a 26-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her.
The victim registered a complaint against the accused Ajay Singh at South Delhi's Vasant Kunj Police station yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh said that the accused has been arrested, adding the victim knew him since 2008.

As per the victim, the accused had been making false marriage promises since 2010.
The case has been registered under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
