New Delhi: More than two thousand cases were registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) in children's courts between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015 while the average percentage of conviction of cases is about two per cent.

According to Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) annual report 2070 cases were registered under the POCSO Act between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015 .


The maximum number of cases under POCSO Act was registered in the police district of North Delhi (308) followed by Southeast (286), northwest (262), south (261), shahdara (250), west (204), south-west (118), New delhi (114), northeast 104) east (91) and Central (72).


Out of 2070 cases, compensation was awarded in 33 cases, the data indicated


The average percentage of conviction is about 2 per cent and 15 per cent of cases are disposed, the DCPCR annual report said which performed an analysis of the data as obtained from the Director of Prosecution, Govt of NCT of Delhi.


"The Table draws a very sorry picture related to disposal of cases by Children's Courts," stated the report which was tabled in the assembly today. PTI PLB
