New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee will turn teacher for one day as he agreed to take a special class at a Delhi government school on Teachers' Day (September 5).

“President Pranab Mukherjee has agreed to take class as a teacher, like last year, on Teachers Day. 'Mukherjee Sir ki class' ... once again in a Delhi government school on Teachers' Day on September 5,” Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted on Wednesday.

“It's an honour to all the teachers of the country as the president feels proud to be a teacher for a day. We are very thankful to him for agreeing to inspire the students and teachers this year again,” Sisodia said in another tweet.

Last year Mukherjee had held a class for class XI and XII students at Dr Rajendra Prasad Sarvodhya Vidhalaya in in the Presidential Estate on the eve of Teachers' Day (September 4, 2015).

Teachers' Day is observed on September 5, the birth anniversary of former President Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

The name of the school where Mukherjee will teach students was yet to be finalised, a government official told IANS, adding, that it would be announced soon.
