"We are not tinkering with any provision of Constitution, either in regard to reservation or minority education institution," Javadekar said in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.

The upper house had taken up a debate on the National Education Policy on Thursday, but Javadekar could not reply during the day.

Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien said the discussion could continue in the next session.

As members pressed for the minister`s response, Javadekar said the government will extend the time for submitting suggestions for the education policy.

"We want suggestions from everybody. I will extend the date for submitting suggestions till September 15," Javadekar said.

"We believe in democracy, we believe that education must give whatever is required to live life successfully," he said.
