Zee Media Bureau/Deepak Nagpal New Delhi: BJP president Rajnath Singh on Wednesday ruled himself out of the race for prime minister, saying “only Narendra Modi will be PM, and no one else”. Speaking exclusively to Zee News Editor Sudhir Choudhary, Rajnath said he will never ditch Narendra Modi for the PM`s post.
“Irrespective of numbers, only Narendra Modi will be PM, and no one else. It will be a maha paap for me to even think of becoming PM,” Rajnath told Choudhary. There has been speculation that after the Lok Sabha polls results are declared, Rajnath Singh could be in the running for the PM`s post if the BJP fails to cobble up enough numbers under Modi`s leadership and has to go in for a grand coalition to claim power. Not all parties would be open to the idea of supporting Modi for PM, as the ghost of Gujarat riots continues to haunt him, say observers.
