At least twelve people were electrocuted and four other received serious burn injuries when they came in contact with a high voltage electric wire at Sampatchak village under Gopalpur police outpost in Patna district on Monday. Additional director general of police (Patna range) Ashish Ranjan Sinha said here that the mishap happened when a truck carrying cattle hit a roadside electric pole, killing five animals and one person on the spot. He said at least 11 people were subsequently charred to death when they came in contact with the live electric wire which had snapped and fallen on the ground under the impact of the hit. Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) secretary Prataya Amrit and other senior administrative and police officers had rushed to the spot.
Meanwhile, an irate crowd had blocked Patna-Gaya road deamding that state Chief Minister Rabri Devi and RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav should the spot.
