The Nepalese prince proclaimed king after the massacre of his parents and six other members of his family has died after being fatally wounded in the same incident, a government source said on Monday.
``He has gone,`` the source told on condition of anonymity.
Prince Dipendra, initially blamed for the bloodbath, had been in a coma since Friday night.
He was named king after the still unexplained killings of King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya and six other members of the royal family on Friday night.
Speculation has been rife that Dipendra, 29, murdered his family and then turned the gun on himself after a row over his choice of bride, but the official explanation has been that all were killed or injured when an automatic weapon ``exploded``.
The next in line to the throne is prince Gyanendra, who was named prince regent on Saturday.
