Pakistan on Friday denied media reports of the government placing its nuclear forces on alert following the escalating tension between India and Pakistan over the terrorist attack on Indian Parliament. Dismissing the reports as baseless speculation, a foreign office statement here said while the armed forces were alert due to the statements emanating from India, but there was no change in the posture of nuclear weapons.
While the country's armed forces are vigilant in view of the escalation of tension caused by hostile statements and threats from India, there has been no change in the posture of Pakistan's strategic forces, it said.
It said Pakistan was fully capable of defending itself against any aggression.
