Hong Kong: Shares fell in Hong Kong and Shanghai after the open on Thursday following the previous day`s gains and after Federal Reserve boss Janet Yellen sounded a word of warning about Britain`s possible exit from the European Union.

The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong fell 0.97 percent, or 199.24 points, to 20,268.28.



And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.31 percent, or 8.81 points, to 2,878.40, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China`s second exchange, edged down 0.08 percent, or 1.43 points, to 1,888.44.
