Mumbai: As many as 106 inmates of Taloja Central Jail in Navi Mumbai on Friday appeared for examination on 'Gandhian Thoughts' on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.

This 'Gandhi Peace Examination' was conducted by Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal, a release from prison authorities said.


Laxman Gole, a former criminal who had confessed to his crime before the judge after being influenced by Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography, and who works with the Sarvodaya Mandal after release from Nashik Central jail, gave a lecture before the examination, a release said.


Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal has been organising the Gandhi Peace Examination for the last ten years in various jails of Maharashtra, it stated.


The objective is to bring about a change in the lives of inmates by inculcating Gandhian values of truthfulness and non-violence in them, the statement said.
