AIIMS to exempt OPD and clinical charges for two days - Read why

PM Narendra Modi had on Tuesday announced that hospitals, railway, bus and airlines ticket counters will continue to accept Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes for the next 72 hours.

New Delhi: In a bid to ensure smooth delivery of healthcare facilities in the wake of the abolition of currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denominations, the authorities at the All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) on Wednesday declared that no OPD (outpatient department) card fees will be charged from walk-in new patients till November 11, 2016.

Also, all charges for clinical services for out-patients where the cumulative billing per transaction per patient is less than Rs 500 shall not be charged for November 10 and 11.

On Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that hospitals, railway, bus and airlines ticket counters will continue to accept Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes for the next 72 hours.

Modi had announced these measures to smoothen the transition process of demonetisation for curbing black money in the country.

According to the Prime Minister, these people friendly measures will minimise the inconvenience of the government's decision to withdraw Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes from Tuesday midnight.
