Shorten, who was meeting a group of Indian-Australian business leaders here, said Modi was top on his list to meet when the leaders of 20 nations arrive next month.

Modi is scheduled to visit Australia for the two-day G-20 summit in Brisbane starting November 15. He will be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Australia in nearly three decades. Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had visited the country in 1986.

"I m hoping to meet Modi when he visits Australia. He is one of the leader top on my list who I am looking forward to meet," Shorten said.

During the meeting, business leaders expressed their concerns on several trade and related issues including education, trade and visa.

Australia India Business Council Victoria's new president Intaj Khan said, "Modi is seen as a economic driven Prime Minister...We would like to see more of business opportunities to be pushed ahead not only from Australia but also from India."

Issues like education and 457 visa were also raised by the group.

Mitu Bhowmick Lange of Mind Blowing Films suggested Shorten to extend more incentives for Bollywood industry which she said would boost two way tourism.
