New Delhi: In a major development, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday declared Sarbananda Sonowal as its chief minister candidate for upcoming Assam Assembly elections.

The decision was taken by Parliamentary Board of the party in a meetin held at New Delhi.


 


Happy over the party's decision, Sarbananda Sonowal said, "I want to thank PM Modi and Amit Shah ji, I am grateful to them (sic)."


 


In the meeting of BJP's Parliamentary Board, discussion was held on five states, but decision was taken for Assam. 


"We will form government in Assam," BJP leader said JP Nadda said.
