In a major blow to JNU students` union president Kanhaiya Kumar, a high-powered inquiry panel of the varsity has found him guilty in an anti-India event case of February 9.
New Delhi: In a major blow to JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar, a high-powered inquiry panel of the varsity has found him guilty in an anti-India event case of February 9.
"JNU high-powered inquiry panel has found Kanhaiya Kumar's role offensive vis-a-vis Feb 9 protests. Also, the varsity has suspended 8 students," a TimesNow report said.
Five students, who were allegedly involved in the Feb 9 anti-India protests, are still on the run, the report added.
Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested in a case of sedition and criminal conspiracy in connection with an alleged anti-national event inside JNU premises. A Delhi court on Monday had extended by two days the police custody of Kanhaiya Kumar.
A case was registered on February 11 under Sections of 124 A (sedition) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC against unknown persons at Vasant Kunj (North) Police station following complaints by BJP MP Maheish Girri and the ABVP.
A group of students had on February 9 held an event in the campus and allegedly shouted slogans against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru in 2013.
