Jahan Ara and Afroz Begum have become the first women Qazis of Rajasthan after completing their two-year training course from Mumbai-based Darul Uloom-i-Nisawa, a TOI report said.

The Jaipur-based women were handed over their certificates for 'Qaziyat' on Friday. Now, they can officially be called Qazi Jahan Ara and Qazi Afroz Begum.

They have completed the course in the light of Quran, Hadith and Indian Constitution. Also, they learnt about the rights of women.

With this, solemnizing nikaah will no longer be a male bastion in the state. However, Qazi Jahar Ara says 'Qaziyat' is not just limited to solemnizing nikaah but has other responsibilities as well.
