"The way in which V K Singh, who is a minister in this government likened Dalit children to dogs and in a way dubbed Dalits as dogs, he should resign," Congress leader Pramod Tiwari told ANI..

The opposition parties had earlier staged a walkout on Wednesday after making an attempt to disrupt proceedings in the Lok Sabha to press for an apology by Singh.

Congress members came into the well and shouted slogans against Singh throughout question hour.

Trinamool Congress, CPM and the NCP members of parliament backed them, first by remaining standing and later by joining the walkout.

Amid the outcry over the killing of two Dalit children in Haryana, Singh had said local incidents should not be associated with the Centre and drawn an analogy with stones being thrown at a dog.
