The former Army chief doubted if the retired soldier Ram Kishan Grewal's mental state was alright. "The reason for his suicide being reported is OROP. I don't know what his mental state was. It needs investigation," he said while speaking to ANI.

Venting out his anger on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for allegedly trying to politicise the suicide of Grewal, Singh further asserted that 'OROP should be kept away from politics'.

"Rahul Gandhi must not politicize the issue. The reason for his suicide being reported is OROP. However, we don't know what his mental state was. The matter needs to be investigated," VK Singh said while speaking to ANI.

The Delhi Police today detained Rahul Gandhi after the latter tried to meet the kin of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal, who allegedly committed suicide over the delay in implementation of the One Rank, One Pension (OROP).

Rahul was stopped close to the gates of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here when he attempted to enter the hospital premises to meet the family members of the victim Grewal.
