New Delhi: As Rajnath Singh is all set to attend the 7th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) home/interior ministers' meet in Pakistan, Congress leader Renuka Chauhary, Wednesday, took a dig at the Union Minister.

Speaking to the media, the Congress MP said, Rajnath Singh will visit Islamabad and gorge on biryani and hug Pakistani leaders, adding that, this doesn't solve the issues between the two countries.


“Jakar gale milenge, biryani khayenge, iss se samasya hal nahi hoti,” Chowdhury said.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Lahore in December 2015 for a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in a surprise visit. PM Modi had paid a visit to Sharif's ancestral home and sought blessings from his mother by touching her feet.


Just days after the high-profile visit, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants had stormed the IAF base in Pathankot in Punjab on January 2, 2016, which triggered two days of gunbattle that left seven Indian security personnel dead.


MoS Kiren Rijiju has said that Rajnath's visit to Pakistan will afford no occasion for bilateral talks between the two countries.


The Home Minister will travel to Pakistan today attend the SAARC meeting on Thursday.


In the meet Rajnath will raise the Pathankot terror attack case, fake currency and narcotics smuggling from Pakistan.


Jamaat-ud-Dawaa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed has warned of a countrywide protest in Pakistan by his outfit when Rajnath Singh arrives in Islamabad to attend the SAARC ministerial conference.
