Indrani Mukerjea should be hanged if she killed Sheena: Siddharth Das

Kolkata: As investigators waddle through an intriguing web of lies and deceit in the Sheena Bora murder case, Siddarth Das, her biological father came out in the open for the first time and blamed Indrani Mukerjea for possibly murdering his daughter.

Das on Tuesday cleared all speculations about his relationship with Indrani, wife of former STAR India CEO Peter Mukerjea and the main suspect in the case.

While assuring all help to the investigators, Das admitted that he was in a relationship with Indrani way back in 1980s and Mikhail Bora and Sheena were his biological children.

When he was asked as to what punishment he would seek for Indrani if it was proved that she murdered Sheena, Das replied, "I want her to be hanged if she killed Sheena.... I am feeling very heartbroken.”

Putting an end to all speculations, Das who was earlier reported to be Indrani Mukerjea's first husband, also admitted of staying with Indrani at her residence in Guwahati, but he completely rejected reports of his marriage with her.

"I never married Indrani officially. I met Indrani in college in 1986. She left me in 1989. Maybe Indrani wasn't satisfied with my state as I did not have a job then," Das said in Kolkata, coming out in the open for the first time since the case grabbed headlines with the arrest of Indrani.

He further said that Indrani had left him in 1989 and they had not been in touch since then. Das said he came to know about the "murder through newspapers" and was ready to cooperate in the investigation.

Das, a factory worker in Kolkata, said he was ready for a DNA test. Replying to a question whether Indrani could have murdered Sheena, Das said, "I believe Indrani could do this".

Indrani is facing fresh charges of poisoning and attempting to murder her son Mikhail on the day her daughter Sheena was killed more than three years ago as police suspect involvement of people outside the state in the sensational crime.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria told media persons last week that former husband of co-accused Indrani, Sanjeev Khanna has cracked and confessed to his role in the crime.

Earlier Maria had maintained that Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012. Her body was found on May 23 that year after Indrani's driver Shyam Rai revealed the murder site to police.

Indrani was arrested on August 25 on charges of killing Sheena on April 24, 2012 along with her driver Shyam Rai and Khanna.

Khanna has been charged with murder, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, destroying evidence and more. His mobile phone, laptop and passport have been seized but he has denied the police charges.
