Why did RSS change its uniform?

The decision to adopt brown trousers as new uniform was taken to attract youths, according to RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi.

"We have decided to replace khaki shorts with brown-colored full pants (RSS uniform)," Bhaiyyaji Joshi said.

"Trousers are more common in normal life. We are the people who move with times. So we had no hesitation to change dress code," Bhaiyyaji Joshi added.

Reason behind brown colour

However, Bhaiyyaji Joshi said there was no specific reason behind choosing brown colour.

The issue of change in uniform, which was taken up in a meeting of Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) in 2010, was deferred till 2015 due to a lack of consensus.

RSS members till now used to sport khaki shorts and white full- sleeve shirts folded up to the elbow, besides black caps, as part of their 'ganvesh'.
