An in-principle decision has been taken in this regard and necessary instruction will be issued soon, official sources said.

Daesh is an acronym for the Arabic phrase al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-Iraq al-Sham (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant).

Essentially, it is another word for ISIS - which the terror organisation does not favour.

The word is similar to the Arabic words 'Daes', meaning 'one who crushes something underfoot' and 'Dahes', translated as 'one who sows discord'.

Daesh or ISIS has become one of the most brutal terror groups in the world which killed hundreds of people after occupying a large area in Syria and Iraq in recent times.

Several Indians have also joined the group while some other Indians were radicalised or recruited online by it.
