Taking a jibe at the right wing ‘nationalists’, Salim reportedly said, ”You pray Ram Ram and you endorse Nathuram”.

Addressing the National Solidarity Conference for Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Salim compared the current situation with Indira Gandhi's emergency rule.

He also questioned the government's intention for keeping JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban still in prison and called the RSS supporters of Nathuram Godse.

“We won’t let the country destroy in the name of hatred,” the bhatkallys.com quoted him as saying.
