Speaking at a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) was held at her residence, Sonia said, “Government seems hell-bent on destroying the spirit of inquiry, questioning, debate and dissent.”

Rejecting the government's charge that the Congress is not allowing the smooth functioning of the Parliament, she said, “Contrary to what government says, let me once and for all make it absolutely clear - we want Parliament to function, to legislate.”

Earlier beefing the media on what transpired during the CWC meet, party spokesperson Anand Sharma said, “The CWC expressed serious concern over the serious disturbances triggered in the nation by BJP, RSS and affiliated organisations.”

“CWC also expressed concern in the manner in which fabric of communal harmony is being torn apart,” he said.

Apparently referring to the ongoing row involving JNU students, the Congress leader alleged that the democratic voices have been muzzled.

Congress is shocked with the collapse of law and order in Delhi, he added.
