According to ABP news report, addressing students of Nirma university during a program, Rawal said that like the stones with Lord Ram's name on them floated on water in Ramayana, Modi’s name ensured victory of BJP in 2014 General Elections.

Further reacting to the controversy on ‘growing intolerance’, Rawal said that he wonders how people who are surrounded by security guards and roam in expensive cars can complain about growing intolerance.

He also alleged that in film industry awards are conferred on by lobbying.

“This whole Award Wapsi is a non-issue, absolutely bogus. Where were they when atrocities against the minorities were committed earlier. Wasn’t there attacks on freedom of expression earlier? My own movie Oh My God was not screened in a number of cities due to various reasons. The whole issue originates due to the constipation in people’s mind regarding Narendra Modi,” ABP news quoted him as saying.
