PM Narendra Modi unhappy with BJP lawmakers for not using social media, appoints tutors
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday was critical of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmakers who are not active on social media.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday was critical of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmakers who are not active on social media.
Chairing a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister raised concern over several ministers, who were not using digital platform to reach out to the electorate.
The PM appointed Power Minister Piyush Goyal, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State Jitendra Singh to help the BJP lawmakers use social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter.
PM Modi has 19.7 million followers on Twitter and over 3 crore likes on his Facebbok page.
In the meet, PM Modi asked the ministers to aggressively use digital platforms and highlight govt's initiatives like LPG coverage, electrification of villages, Mudra scheme and Jan Dhan Yojana.
A senior minister, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the meeting was mainly about presentations by some ministries on financial and developmental issues, besides on how to give added focus to Modi's pet digital India scheme.
The Prime Minister also asked various departments to prepare e-books listing their achievements so the people understand what measures the government has undertaken for their uplift.
