New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee has congratulated Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, for figuring in the top 100 in the Times Higher Education World Rankings 2015-16.

President Mukherjee expressed hope that the Indian Institute of Science will continue to provide leadership in enhancing the standards of education in the country to meet future challenges. He emphasized that the work of IISc should also be an inspiration for other Institutions of higher learning in the country to scale new heights.


The President of India is 'Visitor' to 114 Institutes of higher learning including all Central Universities, IITs, NITs, IISc, Bangalore, IISERs, IIITs, NIPERs, NIFT, IIEST, Shibpur, RGIPT, Rae Bareli, RGNIYD, Sreperumbudur, School of Planing and Architecture Bhopal and New Delhi.


In his capacity as 'Visitor', President Mukherjee has visited more than 100 institutions since he assumed office. He has been constantly urging universities to develop themselves into global leaders.
