Suicide attack on Indian consulate in Afghanistan foiled
The Afghan National Directorate of Security said troops arrested a suicide bomber, thwarting his plans to attack the Indian consulate in Jalalabad.
Kabul: The Afghan National Directorate of Security said troops arrested a suicide bomber, thwarting his plans to attack the Indian consulate in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, local officials said on Monday.
Attaullah Ludin, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said "the attacker named Nasir, a resident of Tagab district of north-eastern Kapisa province, recently joined the Taliban and confessed to his plot of bombing the Indian consulate on Sunday, during investigations."
However the Taliban was yet to comment on the incident.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Afghanistan to inaugurate its new parliament building, which was built by India as a gift for Afghan democracy.
