Watch: Spanish-made Talgo train burns rail tracks between Mathura-Palwal at 180 kmph
The Talgos may be introduced between Delhi and Mumbai.
New Delhi: Within months of being lauded as India's fast ever train, the Gatimaan Express lost the tag to a meaner machine from Spain – the Talgo.
The high-speed Talgo train, hauled by Made in India 4500 hp diesel locomotive, broke Gatimaan Express' 160 kmph record by clocking 180 kmph on Mathura-Palwal section near Delhi – covering the 80-km stretch in just 39 minutes.
The Talgos were first tested on the Bareilly and Moradabad section for speeds upto 110 kmph before hitting the fastest section on the Indian railways between Delhi and Agra.
If all goes as per plan, you could see the Talgos in service between Delhi and Mumbai.
