Gurgaon: In a bid to make public tranpsort safer for women in the city, Gurgaon City Police on Tuesday flagged off the newly-introduced 'ZipGo' women's only bus service in the city.
Launching the bus service, City Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk said Zipgo will be operating a smartphone-based on demand fleet of 100 vehicles, covering all of Gurgaon with routes connecting Gurgaon to Faridabad, Manesar, Dwarka and other parts of south Delhi.
"First time ever in Gurgaon, a bus service is being introduced, especially for women commuters.
"It's a good initiative, meant to provide easy, comfortable and safest platform to city women, including office-goers, as Gurgaon is a hub of MNCs and IT companies, where thousands of professional women come from Delhi NCR," Virk said.
"The 12-seater bus, equipped with CCTV cameras being monitored by a control room, will offer a safe and crime-free journey to the women. The new bus service will help remove thousands of cars from the city roads, which in turn would help in reducing pollution," he added.
Meanwhile, Jitender Sharma, Co-founder of ZipGO said our mission is to provide a reliable, comfortable and air-conditioned mass transportation option for daily commute, besides helping reduce the usage of personal vehicles.
Every morning and evening, millions of women in Delhi NCR spend an average of 2 hours to get to work and to get back home.
"The daily commute is perhaps the most stressful part of their everyday life. We want to replace the stress with the comfort of door-to-door commute option at a fraction of cost of a taxi or driving one's own car, and thus enable our members and their families to lead a healthier and happier life," Sharma said.
He further said that with the introductory prices starting from just Rs 29 per ride, we are also the most economical option for a hassle-free commute.
"We are already witnessing a great response, as over five thousand women have registered with us through Pay TM wallet," claimed Sharma while adding that for upcoming year, the company's target is to extend its services to Delhi NCR including Noida and Greater Noida.
ZipGo fleet will have the capacity of carrying 10,000 passengers daily, which will take up to 10,000 vehicles off the roads of Delhi and Gurgaon to help reduce traffic congestion.
The company is offering the introductory fare of Rs 250 of free rides for new users upon registration.
New user can also avail upto 100% bonus on recharge with the PayTM wallet. Saurabh Singh, Joint commissioner of Gurgaon traffic
police was also present at the launch.
