"Such utterances of the security apparatus are dangerous and amount to erosion of the political authority of the dispensation," CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami said.

He said use of pellet guns in the Valley has caused "havoc" and more than hundred young boys have suffered injuries to their eyes.

"It is unacceptable that even if Home Minister of India after acknowledging the fact that pellets have darkened the world of more than hundred young boys, an official from CRPF would debate lethal and non-lethal nature of pellets," Tarigami said, adding the fact was that pellets have "gravely injured the Kashmir psyche".

"The use of brutal force against protesters on whatever pretext was simply unacceptable," the CPI (M) leader added.
