Asiya Andrabi opposes New Year celebrations in Gulmarg, calls Bollywood actors `shameless`
Asiya Andrabi, the chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, has opposed the proposed New Year celebrations to be held at a tourist resort in Gulmarg.
Srinagar: Asiya Andrabi, the chairperson of the hardline women's separatist outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), on Monday opposed the proposed New Year celebrations to be held at a tourist resort in Gulmarg.
The separatist leader described the night-long program, which is being organised by a group `Kashmiriyat’ on December 31 in Gulmarg, as “cultural onslaught”.
"A night-long programme is being organised by some unknown group 'Kashmiryat' on December 31 at (famous ski resort of) Gulmarg. It is a cultural onslaught....these programs are being organised under an agenda devised by RSS to thrust upon Kashmir, the shameless and lewd culture of India," the chairperson of Dukhtaran Aasiya Andrabi said.
According to the senior Hurriyat conference leader, the program is being sponsored by a few Urdu and English dailies and TV channels in the name of art, music and comedy, "shameless" actors of Bollywood have been invited.
"It is a clear attempt to counter the Islamic ideology of Kashmiris," she said urging people to remain away from such programmes at any cost.
She said that the real culture of Kashmir is related to Islam where there is no place to celebrate events like New Year.
"These events can be important for the 'Brahman' culture but they do not have any connection with Islam. This program is not a 'parwaaz' (flight) of Kashmir but the parwaaz of a vulture which is always destined towards filth," she said.
Andrabi had hoisted a Pakistani flag on August 14 and addressed a rally of the Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaat-ud-Dawah in Pakistan via phone this year.
