Thiruvananthapuram: Functioning of government offices and educational institutions in Kerala was affected on Tuesday following a one-day strike by a section of its employees and teachers demanding implementation of 10th state Pay Commission recommendation with retrospective effect.

The strike was called by pro-Left service organisations with the union leaders alleging that the government was attempting to sabotage the report. The commission was appointed in 2013 and it submitted the final report early this month.


The government had stated that it would implement the report by February and wanted employees to desist from strike.


It had invoked 'dies non' (no work no pay) to face the strike.
