The district consists of three talukas – Vythiri, Sulthan Bathery and Mananthavady.
Wayanad went to polls in the first phase of panchayat elections on November 2. Voter turnout recorded was 81.58 percent – highest for any district in the first phase. Polling was a little higher than that recorded last time - 81.30 percent.
