Chouhan presided over the meeting held on board cruise boat ‘Narmada Queen’ in the backwaters of Indira Sagar Dam on river Narmada.

The aim of the meeting on board a cruise ship was to give fillip to tourism in the state.

At the meeting, the Madhya Pradesh government decided to constitute a “Tourism Cabinet” to promote tourism in the state.

“We have decided to form 'Tourism Cabinet' for the promotion of tourism sector,” Chouhan told reporters after the meeting.

Madhya Pradesh already has a similar body for agriculture, called the 'Krishi Cabinet'.

Further, the Chouhan Cabinet has decided to hand over forts, heritage buildings and palaces to private parties for developing them.

Also, to tap the immense tourism potential of Hanuwantia, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) will organise 'Jal Mahotsav' there from February 12-19. The festival’s theme will be water tourism.

Madhya Pradesh is observing 2016 as Tourism Year.
