Mumbai: Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who is the Congress candidate from Maharashtra, filed his nomination papers on Tuesday.

Chidambambaram filed his nomination form at Vidhan Bhawan in presence of party leaders from the state, 


70-year-old Chidambaram did not contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections while his son Karti unsuccessfully fought from his native Sivaganga constituency in Tamil Nadu.


Former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and former MP Bhalchandra Mungekar were among a large number of Congress leaders lobbying for the party nomination for the upper house of Parliament from Maharashtra.
