New Delhi: Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma on Thursday hit out at Narendra Modi over `Chai pe charcha campaign`, saying the Bharatiya Janata Party`s prime ministerial candidate is adding opium to tea.
Speaking to ANI, Verma, who has often been very critical of Modi, said that Modi is adding opium to tea so that people get addicted. A few days ago, Verma had said that the BJP prime ministerial candidate would have to be kept away from power to maintain social harmony in a developing country like India.
Last year, the Congress leader had termed the Gujarat Chief Minister as a ‘mad dog’. "Loktantra ke mandir ko kisi pagal kutte sey pradushit na hone dey. Yeh janata ka farz hai. (It is the responsibility of country`s people for not letting any mad dog to pollute the temple of democracy)," Beni had said.
In October last year, Verma had described Modi as a "blot of Godhra".
